Water crisis

Good morning Mr President

We have no water for the fourth day running here in Illovo Beach and with that the realisation that there is no end in sight. More apologies from eThekwini for the inconvenience. No concrete plans to replace the asbestos cement pipes that shoould have been replaced way back in 2009. Our sewerage still pollutes our rivers, runs down our streets. Must we admit to the world we are incapable of sorting our own back yard? Pack up and leave? Go where?

How many times have I pleaded with you to work together on a solution? How many times have I pleaded with the Office of The Premier, The Justices, eThekwini City Council sometimes in fear of my life, sometimes in hope that we could as fellow countryment come together to sort out our own back yard? Pleaded for recompense in the face of grave injustices including the murder of my son so that we can build viable and world class facilities to turn the crisis into an opportunity for job creation, skills development, sustainable and environmentally responsible solutions?

For nothing? Was it all in vain? Is it so hard to admit wrong and seek to do what’s right? How long will our government take and take and take until we are left completely stranded? High and dry, so to speak? The carbon tax that’s coming is a sellout. We are slaves to those who lend and destined to destruction by their ill conceived plans. They care nothing for our people. What happened to “Batho Pele”?

I still pray for our country and it’s leaders. I felt God ask me to weep for our nation. I struggle to find the emotion anymore. It’s like I am numb on the inside. Repentance and forgiveness is our only hope. The days of cover up and secrets are over. The AI beast will find you out. Must we trade our sovereignty to be governed by the beast because people cannot be trusted anymore? Or can we rise to the occasion, genuinely ask forgiveness and determine to do what’s right?

We are at a turning point. Either we do or we don’t. I pray for courage to do what is right for that is the only path to life and happiness.

Sincerely yours,

Andrew
